Depending on where you live, it's time to start thinking about getting your roof ready for spring. Winter weather can create roof problems due to freeze/thaw and high winds.

"When we look at a roof to see how it survived the winter, one of the first things we look for are missing metal pieces that fasten down the roof membrane or roof penetrations," says Matt Shane, CentiMark Service Manager, Pittsburgh, PA. "We look for winter damage and check the gutters to make sure they are in-tact. If the gutters are clogged and cannot drain properly, they will come down." He adds that prior to beginning any work, the crews evaluate safety conditions starting inside the building with an underdeck inspection to verify the roof is safe to walk on. Crews make their safety checks. When they identify fall protection needs that will benefit the customer to assist them with OSHA compliance, the information will be noted on the work ticket for the customer.

"Our short-term goal is to fix any roof leaks to make sure that your roof can handle the snow melts and the spring rains. Our long-term goal is to help you extend the life of your roof," adds Shane.

CentiMark is proud to announce that Paul Carlsen, of our Bloomington, MN office, was awarded a Roofing MVP Award by the NRCA (National Roofing Contractors Association) on February 6, 2013. He was one of three roofers in the United States to receive this award by the professional association of the roofing industry.

Paul joined CentiMark in July 2011 and has 19 years of roofing experience. He is known for his communication skills with customers and his leadership skills with his crew. Paul's crew was injury free during 2012. Paul is an Army Veteran (1986-1993) and served in the Gulf War where he was injured in the line of duty.

Also at the NRCA annual meeting, CentiMark’s James Patterson, Vice President of Procurement, accepted a NRCA/CNA Community Involvement Award on behalf of CentiMark Corporate Associates and the Peters Township (PA) Meals on Wheels program. CentiMark supports the local Meals on Wheels program financially and through weekly volunteer support. CentiMark Corporate associates deliver Meals on Wheels each Friday as part of our "CentiMark Cares in the Community" program.
